GIVEAWAY: Win a double pass to the Vancouver advance screening of ‘Me Before You’!

Today I’m excited for two reasons:

  1. Next Wednesday, for the first time in AAAAAAAAAAGES, I’m going to the movies. And not one of those Stars & Strollers things where everyone brings their babies, either. Nope, a real live grown-up movie with grown ups. Grown ups, as far as the eye can see!
  2. Maybe you’ll get to come too!

Let’s rewind a bit: a few days ago I was contacted by Shedoesthecity.com with an invitation to attend the advance screening of the new movie Me Before You in Vancouver. Given that it’s a romance (I’m kind of a sucker for romance), and it stars Emilia Clarke (I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan — Thronies, they call us*), and it’s an advance screening (it makes me feel special to get to see things before other people see them, because I’m a big-time elitist), AND it’s free (I love free stuff because I am a human person), I obviously said yes.

But wait — there’s more! They were also kind enough to offer not one but FIVE additional double passes to give away to you lovely folks. So I’m having a contest, and if you enter you just might win tickets for you and a friend to attend the screening — hooray!

The screening will take place on Wednesday, May 25 at 7:00pm, at the Cineplex International Village Cinemas in Vancouver. So it probably goes without saying that you have to be in Vancouver on May 25 to take advantage of this prize … but I’m saying it anyway, because that’s just the kind of person I am.

You can enter to win using this form:

a Rafflecopter giveaway

I’ll draw five winners at random on May 22 (that’s next Sunday) and email you if you’re one of them.

Oh, I hope you win! I’d love to meet you at the movie, especially since Justin refused to come with me (because the movie does not involve robots or dinosaurs or space or explosions … or at least I don’t think it does) and anyway I kind of need him to stay home with the baby, so I might be alone and sad.

Hah! Who am I kidding, I won’t be sad. I’ll be out at the movies like a dang grown up!

Shedoesthecity is running their own contest for free tickets as well, so if you’re in Toronto or Montreal, or even if you just want more chances to win tickets to the Vancouver screening, check out their site too. And get on Twitter, because that’s how they’re running their contest.

Here’s a trailer for the movie (it opens on June 3, in case you don’t win or you’re in Saskatchewan or something):

* Not really. But I like how it sounds, so maybe we can make it a thing. Thronies.

DISCLOSURE: Shedoesthecity gave me six double passes (1 for me, 5 for my readers) to this screening, free of charge. I’d tell you it was in exchange for this post but technically they didn’t ask me to write a post, so I can only assume they did it out of the goodness of their own hearts and probably also to promote the movie, and it worked because here we are. They probably assumed I’d write a post, though, since this isn’t their first rodeo and I’m fairly certain that’s how most bloggers run giveaways, so it only makes sense that I’d post about it. At any rate, other than free movie tickets, I did not receive any compensation for this post. All opinions are my own, and are true, except maybe the part about being an elitist.

Also, I just looked up Thronies and it’s totally a thing, so I guess the part about it not being a thing isn’t true either.

I’m glad it’s a thing.

I’d ask my sister to go to the movie with me first. If she isn’t free, I’d take my coworker because she’s told me many times that she loves the book and wants to see the movie!

Can I bring Rick Mercer if I win? Because I feel like that would 100% be my #1 choice 🙂

If you can get Rick Mercer to come to the movie with you, I will be awfully impressed. I may also impose an additional condition on the prize that you have to promise to introduce him to me.
